Week 2

Posted on 3:33 PM, under

So this week I started the p 90 x work out thing. Man its a tough work out. I was unable to finish the whole chest and back one because my arms were too tired, but today my legs got worked. We took pictures for our before and after pics, but i didn't want to ask anyone for help, so i put the camera on our room ladder and took them of myself. haha. i like p90 x because it doesn't require me to run or really even leave my room, in case of bad weather.
Class has still been going well this week. we were learning about the history of missions and who has been laying the roads for future missionaries. Im still not sure, if its something i will do, but im even more open to it now.
Tomorrow, kelly and i are going to make another attempt at visiting our friend in el nino.

cool things about the rain

Posted on 11:52 AM, under

Rain can be good, fun, cool or bad.
we saw a lot of rivers flowing down the streets out here this week and saw lots of destruction.
some cool things rain does is wash teh roads a little, spark new plant life, and make mud so i can get my truck dirty. lol. now its time to wash it.

joy ride/ puddle jumping

Today Kelly and i decided we were going to go visit our friend Pastor Danny out in the city of El Nino. along the way, Kelly wanted to show me this cool dam near a city called el florido. Along the way to the dam, we off roaded on some of the streets that were asphalt last week, but because of the rain, there was mud covering them.
Finally after driving around the whole city looking for the dam, we stumble upon the street that takes us over it. It was really cool to drive over because the road was super small and when other cars drove by, i held my breath to maybe make our car a little more slim.

After the beautiful drive over the dam, we headed out to el nino. When we got to pastor danny's house, we realized that no one was there. so kelly and i thought for a minute or two about what to do now. so we headed over to his other church. The road to rojo gomez is a dirt one, with a river running across it. The river now over flooded became a lake. a lake that i had to drive across in my old 4 runner. i stop and ponder if i can make it, while kelly keeps urging me to charge it. we notice that there are a few people at the edge of this river/lake and we didnt know what they were up to. i decided that they were there to watch people try and make it through the mud and water and maybe to see someone get stuck and laugh at them.

A van pulls up along side, then make the drive through the lake. He made it, so i figured i could as well. About half way across the lake, the water is splashing over my hood and mud covered my window. we make it across, but only because i did not take my foot off the gas for a second.
no one was at that church either, so we had to make the drive back through all the mud and that river/ lake thing. this time i drove across the deeper side, but i didnt know it was deeper. i didnt think i was goin to make it this time, but some how i did again.

We decided to go visit our friends at caravan ministries in el florido. We got lost trying to find them, but eventually made it to their place safe.
By now kelly and i were tired of driving and off roading and just wanted to make it home. so we headed home and got some tacos along the way at our local taco stand.

apostolic passion

Posted on 11:39 PM, under

This class started out a little slow for me, lots of home work and reading. Now the information going into my head and heart is getting amazing. I wish i could take the whole articles in the book and post them on here, but i can't find them online. I just, just might type some of them up on here.

ok here is some quotes by a guy name Floyd McClung.
These are some of my favorite quotes by this guy.

What is "Apostolic Passion?" The term "passion" is used to describe everything from romance to hunger pangs. I don. t know what it means to you, but for me passion means whatever a person is willing to suffer for. In fact, that. s the root meaning of the word. It comes from the Latin paserre, to suffer. It is what you hunger for so intensely that you will sacrifice anything to have it. The word "apostle" means a sent one, a messenger. "Apostolic Passion" therefore, is a deliberate, intentional choice to live for the worship of Jesus in the nations. It has to do with committed to the point of death to spreading His glory. It. s the quality of those who are on fire for Jesus, who dream of the whole earth being covered with the Glory of the Lord.

Those who have apostolic passion are planning to go, but willing to stay. You know you have it when you are deeply disappointed that God has not called you to leave your home and get out among those who have never heard His name. If you will not suffer and sacrifice for something, you are not passionate about it. If you say you will do anything for Jesus, but you don. t suffer for Him then you aren. t really passionate abut Him and His purposes on earth.

There are too any over-fed, under-motivated Christians hiding behind the excuse that God has not spoken to them. They are waiting to hear voices or see dreams, all the while living to make money, to provide for their futures, to dress well and have fun.

1/21/10

Man last nights rain was crazy. The rain was the hardest i think i have ever seen it before. We all thought that we were going to lose the power at some point yesterday, but thank goodness that never happened.

Today we had a speaker from san diego. He works for an organization called om ships international. http://www.omships.org/ check it out if you have time. The stories he told us were awesome to hear. He has lived in a few different countries and just has a passion to serve God.
Today, he used a few verses to get his point across, but the one that really stood out to me was Romans 10:13-15. it was talking about people need to call on the Lord to be saved. But how we they hear about Him if no one is out there preaching about Him. It was just really encouraging to hear. I don't think i want to be a missionary, but i strongly feel that there are people who don't get a real chance to hear the Word. Yes Jesus is all over the United States, but i don't think people really have heard what he is all about. I have heard time and time again that we need to learn the culture we are trying to reach, but i don't think many of the Christians in the U.S. really understand the people they are talking to.
Well, that's just my thoughts for today.

well, i am now back in Mexico so i decided i should write on here again. i had a few people ask me to write in my blog because they missed hearing about stuff, i don't know why, lol.
I came back down here on Sunday the 17th after church at Sandals along with my friends jeff, jay and Justin. it was nice day, because a few friends stopped by to say good bye to me before i left.
Well, i met up with Johannes and Kelly in san diego to watch the chargers game, too bad they lost. After the game we grabbed a bite to eat and went to Flood church in san diego. The message was really good, joel spoke about how to pray and how its responding to God. If we only take and take, we are not praying properly. I don't know how to explain it, but it was good.
The first day of class we discussed what was going to happen with this class, like how long it is and what it covers. Basically this class is a 15 week course but we are doing it in 15 days (yikes). The classes are not too long and interesting for the most part. Class starts at 9 but i still wish i was in bed at this time, so i drink multiple cups of coffee to insure that i stay awake. After class we had free time, the guys and i went to the beach to read and play chess at a local coffee shop. it was all good and fun until the storm knocked out the power.
The homework for the class is good but there is a lot of reading in it. sometimes just the reading takes about 3 hours, and then we have a chapter review to go over. i usually do the review as i read and then maybe finish the reading later. In the homework today, there was a comparison to the church and Jonah. Jonah was fleeing from what he was told to do. While fleeing on a ship God sent a storm, Jonah slept below deck oblivious that the storm was sent because of him. The comparison to the church, is that many people know that things are happening, but they are oblivious to the truth that they can put a stop to it by being obedient.
I have heard the story of Jonah and the great fish many times before as a child, and i even read it the other month, but i still didn't understand the point of the story. I see more now that Jonah didn't want to share about God because he was selfish. sometimes we find great things and hide them for ourselves like Jonah was doing. he didn't want God to save the people.
I had a good time doing the homework tonight. Rory and i decided to read outloud to eachother what we were reading. While reading, if we had a question, we would discuss in depth what was going on. Its good to be back hanging out with rory, and i just might have the chance to be on the road with him and one other cool guy this summer working with youth camps.
Well, that is all for now. talk or see you soon.
